Wood Pigeon

(Columba palumbus palumbus)

The Woodpigeon is a resident 40cm long. Diet is mainly young sprouting greens, grain, (Hence why farmers consider this bird a pest) berries, nuts, caterpillars, slugs and acorns etc. The hen lays 2 white eggs, between April - August, although it can be earlier or later. The nest is of sticks and quite flat in a bush or tree.
