Pied Wagtail

(Motacilla cinerea cinerea)

The Pied Wagtail is a resident 18cm long. Diet is chiefly flies and small insect pests such as small snails. The hen lays 4 - 6 white, grey speckled eggs in April - June. The nest is of dried hair, grass, roots and wool, in a hole usually in a bank or wall.
