Pheasant
(Phasianus colchicus)
The Pheasant is a semi-domestic resident 84cm long. Diet is Seeds, grubs ants eggs, insects, grain, berries and mast. The hen usually lays 10 to 12 pale olive eggs, although the number can range from between 7 to 18 eggs in April - June. The nest is a hollow in the ground, lined with a little grass and leaves, it's usually concealed in a hedge or close covert.
