Goldcrest

(Regulus regulus anglorum)

The Goldcrest is a resident 9cm long. Diet is mainly Insects, aphids, spiders beetles especially flies. The hen lays 7 - 10 very small white eggs, covered with faint, very tiny, brown-red specks between April - June. The nest is of Lichens, moss and spiders' web, this is woven together like a tiny basket and lined with feathers and is suspended with spiders' webs near the end of a branch under evergreen foilage.
