Fieldfare
(Turdis pilaris)
The Fieldfare is a winter visitor 25cm long. Diet is a mainly worms, grubs, berries and insects. The hen lays 4 to 6 red-speckled, pale blue eggs between April - May. The nest is a cup of grass, twigs and mud, lined with fine grasses, in a tree though sometimes on the ground. Usually breeding in Northern, central and eatern Europe although a few pairs are known to breed in Northern Britain.
